TRICK OR TREAT ?!
Halloween was tons of fun growing up in the Chisum household. We had a blast decorating, dressing up and scaring the pants off anyone brave enough to knock on our door looking for candy. :) Today we're happy to carry on the tradition virtually by participating in the Trick or Treat Blog Hop. It is our hope it becomes an annual tradition and you'll be haunting us again soon.

ReplyDeleteMy best Halloween trick was when we were kids and one year we decided to toilet paper the neighbourhood. There were about a dozen of us and we did one heck of a job! They were cleaning up toilet paper for weeks. It took us about 4 hours and it was tons of fun. Best of all, everyone saw it as just a bunch of kids having fun and no one got in any trouble.

We have a Halloween Tradition, every weekend in October we get alot of people together and we go on a Ghost Run (which our city hosts called Danger Run). The ghost run is a Treat and Trick all in one. They give you a book and you have to follow the glues (in your car) to get to the Haunted Houses (There's 2 haunted houses and both of them have 2 haunts and somtimes they're outside) at the end of October if you are the closet to the correct mileage you win a prize, we have been doing this for the last 5 years and it's one of our favorite things to do for Halloween.

Hmm... I can't think of one specific thing. But I have some favorite ones we started to look forward to..
ReplyDeleteOne lady would always make home made goods like cookies, we knew her and you could trust things more back then. I always loved getting the goody baggies but now you can understand why you don't see them often because of all the people and how crazy expensive money is.
Also, they still do it, our small hometown store gives out bags of freshly popped popcorn with candy hidden all through the bag. We stopped in when we were little and now my kids do the same!

We were at a friends house giving out candy. My husband was dressed as a kind of spooky guy but was handing out candy. When the kids would come up to the door I was dressed in regular clothes with the bowl of candy. Our friend was dressed as kind of a zombie man sitting in a chair on the porch like a decoration. When the kids got on the porch he would be behind them and slowly get up and stand behind them. He scared one girl so much she ran into the house. Hysterical!

While I can't speak for 'tricks' (the worst we did was T.P. houses...and when my dad found out about that, we got in trouble!) my mom used to make popcorn balls, and candied apples. Those were the best treats!

One year we lived in Wyoming and for Halloween we took our son trick or treating in knee deep snow - that was kind of a trick for sure! Oh, and our jack o lanterns froze to the porch and we had to leave them there until spring to thaw out.

It might sound silly but my favorite Halloween memory is going to the house next to my aunt & uncles!! I used to look forward to it for days before trick or treating because she always gave out Twinkies!! My mom didn't let us have that kind of stuff in the house so it was such a HUGE deal and such a yummy treat :)

They got a hole in them so I took them off and threw them in the trash. Later that night someone motioned me over to the wood pile. Seems someone took my tights out of the trash and wrapped a bundle of wood with them. Was embarassing and funny both! Thanks.
